Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist, CBT Clinical Supervisor & Life Coach

I’m a trained Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with full BABCP accreditation. My professional background is in Social Work, and I’ve completed specialist CBT training, with regular supervision and ongoing professional development. I’m also a CBT Clinical Supervisor and trained in EMDR and Life Coaching.

Taking the step to explore therapy or coaching can feel daunting, and it’s okay to feel unsure at first. My aim is to offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you feel supported and respected. I work compassionately and at your pace, creating a safe and welcoming environment to help you through your journey.

How we can support you...

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT is a highly effective talking therapy that considers how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours impact each other and therefore maintain difficulties and distress.

The National Institute for Care and Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT as it is an evidence-based treatment for a wide range of clinical conditions such as depression and anxiety. CBT tends to be more directive than counselling and short term compared to other therapies offered.

In sessions, I will help you identify what you want to gain from therapy and then structure sessions to help you achieve said goals through challenging and changing behaviours and unhelpful thinking patterns.

CBT is collaborative, meaning that we work together to help you identify healthier perspectives of your experiences and help you to develop ways to move forward more positively.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing

The aim of EMDR is to stop traumatic memories causing so much distress by helping the mind to reprocess them properly.

The therapy involves us guiding our eyes – usually by following our fingers back and forth – to make rhythmic eye movements, while you bring to mind the traumatic memory.

Other methods may include us tapping our fingers or playing a tone. These methods may sound strange, but they’re intended to create bilateral stimulation in the mind to allow the safe reprocessing of the memory.

Using EMDR your mind reprocesses memories in a similar way as you do with rapid eye movement as you sleep.
